Ethereum Gas Market

Ethereum Gas fees burnt from the total supply
  • Blockspace utilisation on Ethereum has remained relatively subdued since early March
  • Interestingly, it is clear that this phenomenon started to take place around the 14th of March when 2 notable things happened
    • Crypto spot prices started to cool off after the strong rally to all-time highs
    • Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade went live allowing rollups to use blob space instead of block space
Average cost to transfer ETH (21,000 Gas)
Ethereum Blob Gas Used
  • Last week, we reported a spike in blob usage on the Ethereum network due to BlobScriptions, a protocol used to mint cheaper NFTs using blob space
  • The increase in blob utilization has since then remained elevated and is more than double what we saw before hand
