ETF Flows: BTC, ETH & Altcoins

ETF Flows – BTC ETFs extended their net outflows last week, at roughly $681M since 5th October, posting outflows on 3 of those 5 trading days and smaller inflows on the other 2. ETH ETFs also had net outflows of $542M over the same week, 5th October–9th October.

Altcoin ETFs showed a more mixed picture over the same period. XRP led inflows at $11.3M. Net outflows came from ZEC ($30.7M), SOL ($24.8M), and HYPE ($9.43M). XRP's flows were entirely net inflows, albeit small over the week.

Altcoins underperformed BTC over the week, falling with a higher beta. From 4th October to 9th October, BTC fell 4.5%, while SOL fell 10.3%, ETH 8.9%, XRP 8.2%, HYPE 7.1% and ZEC 10.8%. Most of the drop came on 7th–8th October, when BTC fell 4.3% against declines of 8.7% in SOL, 8.2% in ETH and 7.7% in XRP. Altcoin ETF flows did not show the same underperformance. As a share of market cap, SOL's weekly net outflow (-0.04%) was in line with BTC's (-0.04%), HYPE's was -0.05%, and XRP had net inflows (+0.01%) despite falling almost twice as much as BTC. ETH (-0.18%) and ZEC (-0.15%) were the only assets whose outflows relative to market cap were larger than BTC's.
